The Sunday Video: 2012
Rounding out our Armageddon video series, I bring you a trailer from last year’s 2012. If you actually watched the film in its entirety, I think you would agree that the trailer is better than its big brother. It was promoted in a marketing campaign by a fictional organization, the “Institute for Human Continuity” and it plays into the current belief that the world will end on December 21, 2012. This theory of human annihilation is built around the Mesoamerican Long Count calender that marks the completion of the “great cycle” on this certain date. As we get closer, the media drum beat will get louder and we will have a hysteria not all that different from Y2K. So get ready folks, fill your trash cans with drinking water, invest in gold, and if you’re Christian hire out some Atheists to watch your pets. The Rapture is coming.
