here is what makes a Miami artist:
(ranked in order of qualification, any two of the following and your even more Miami than most Miami artists)
1) the artist was born in Miami
2) the artist has lived in Miami for more than twenty years (all or part of each consecutive year)
3) the artist has a significant other who was born in Miami and they now live together in Miami (or post break-up, the artist still resides in Miami)
4) the artist has a studio in Miami separate from where they sleep
5) the artist graduated from NWSA
6) the artist currently or at one time had gallery representation by a Miami gallery and had a solo show at that gallery
7) the artist has been called a Miami artist by a national print publication

none of the above? then the artist is not a Miami artist, but really who would ever care about such a useless classification, in 100 years there will a giant unending city stretching from Miami to NYC, and i95 be made of light

Miami Art Diaspora... but then again what makes one specifically Miami ? The scene rather than the tropically seen, of course.
