Brilliant! Not enough people acknowledge Duane Hanson’s contribution. There would be no Evan Penny, Frank Benson or Ron Mueck…without South Florida’s own Duane Hanson. I met him when I had a studio in Hollywood Florida in the late 1980s. He rented the bay across from me and would arrive everyday on a big gold Cadillac. His skin looked translucent from all of the toxic materials he used. He invited me in for coffee. His studio was creepy, scarey. He had 55 gallon drums of hands and feet rejects.
His Miami Dolphin football player sculpture is non other than Miami artist Robert Thiele! look it up.
