I think the monster is in the apparent ability for bad artists to make money off of dumb people and honestly, those people already have enough money to get a space and show art so why not.

about the puking and not understanding anything, what is there to understand when there isnt much being said in the artwork.
and when it is, much people dont know about it, so it's obviously being directed at a different crowd (david castillo's tuttle show for example [which was pretty {fucking} great])

i think cliftons show is a pretty nice breeze of fresh air, he's finally realizing the reality he's made in his features. and since people from florida are cochino sucios (in the catholic sense) we eat it up. good job.

The death rattle has begun to sound.....

"Art Basel has agreed to three more years in Miami Beach, writes Douglas Hanks in the Miami Herald—and the fair’s parent firm will work in a partnership with the convention center under a hard-fought deal. Until now, Art Basel had refused to commit to the show for more than one year, leaving city officials to ponder losing the tourism draw to another US location in their annual negotiations with Basel executives..."[from Art Forum]

And it is understandable after spending a few hours at Saturday evening's Art Slog Death March. With the exception of one or two exhibitions it is apparent that Wynwood and the Miami Art scene has transformed into a disgusting dyfunctional drooling and retarded monster. Like something from the Island of Doctor Moreau, where art lovers and artist blindly drag themselves from gallery to gallery drinking, nibbling cheese, puking and not understanding anything.

Clifton Childree and Federico Nessi's exhibitions were odd metaphors for the art scene at the moment and in the near future when the big international Art Basel carnival pull up its stakes and leaves town.
